Complaints and Appeals Policy
Fair procedures for editorial complaints, ethical concerns, and decision appeals.
Journal of Tax Policy, Economics, and Accounting (TAXPEDIA) provides a mechanism for authors, reviewers, readers, and other concerned parties to report editorial problems and request appropriate reconsideration of publication-related decisions.
1. Scope of Complaints
Complaints may concern editorial procedures, alleged conflicts of interest, reviewer conduct, inaccurate publication records, unexplained administrative irregularities, publication ethics, or other matters within journal responsibility. Appeals concern identifiable editorial decisions where substantial evidence indicates a procedural error, material misunderstanding, or compromised impartiality.
2. Submission Requirements
A complaint or appeal should identify the relevant manuscript or published article, explain the concern, provide available evidence, and state the action requested. Reports should be submitted through the official journal contact channel. Information that is confidential, defamatory, or unrelated to the case should not be disclosed unnecessarily.
3. Preliminary Review and Independence
The Editor-in-Chief or an authorized independent editor assesses the complaint and may request clarification. An editor involved in the disputed decision or having a relevant conflict must not independently adjudicate the matter. Complaints concerning editorial leadership may be referred to an independent authorized editor or appropriate publisher representative.
4. Investigation and Response
Relevant records may be examined, additional independent assessment may be requested, and affected parties should ordinarily be given an opportunity to respond. Disagreement with a reviewer's academic opinion alone is not sufficient grounds for overturning an editorial decision.
5. Outcomes and Records
Possible outcomes include clarification, correction of administrative records, reassignment of editorial handling, further independent review, reconsideration of a decision, or confirmation of the original decision. Material correspondence and decisions should be documented, and concerns should be addressed within a reasonable period.
